Response to I Bid the Prim Community Adieu

Wow, in the past two days, I've had such a huge response to my I Bid the Prim Community Adieu post. As many people who have publicly commented thus far, I've had the same amount, if not more, who have privately emailed me. One and all have shared the same or similar maltreatment as I have from the prim community. A couple have even suffered far more painful episodes. Wow, just wow!

As glad as I was to know that I wasn't alone and that it wasn't personal, that I was in good company (from the ladies I know, they're AWESOME) - that others have suffered the cliquishness, the holier than thou attitude, the downright stone cold bi0tchiness of many (not all) in the prim community, it was also sad. Sad because there are so many who have felt ostracized, ridiculed, and shunned because they don't measure up to some unspoken standard...or who don't kiss the right prim princess' backside, or whatever. (Okay, yeah, I know this whole paragraph is grammatically incorrect, but it is what it is).

So to those of you who don't feel like you fit in, to those of you who have been made to feel lesser, you're not alone. In fact, you're probably in the majority, especially if you've been on forums. (Ironically, people even mentioned in private the prim forums I had problems with). Don't feel it's you; it's not. And don't waste your time thinking if you just learn the right gymnastic move, you can twist yourself into something that they'll accept. They won't. So shake off the dust from visiting their blogs and forums and go to places where you're welcome. Life is too short to have to deal with "people" like that. Don't let them suck your energy and joy away. They're emotional vampires, and you don't have to be their victims anymore.

  1. Wow, I've been out of town for about 3 weeks and I've been catching up on the blogs in my reader. I hate it that you've been treated badly. I don't know what the "prim" community is. I hope things start going better for you.
