Do You Have Any Vintage Signs?
If you have any vintage signs, here's a link party for you. Hopefully you'll do the favor to me, and hook up to my link parties as well. (See post below for this blog's link party and on Wednesdays, over at the Sunburnt Cow).
At any rate, the above vintage sign link party is hosted on a site that has a lot of traffic, so it would behoove you - if you want new people discovering your blog (you may not) - to link up.
How link parties have worked for me at my All Thumbs Crafts: since mid-February (just a few weeks ago), I now have 89 followers, 1800 unique hits just this week alone, over 5800 page views (now averaging 300 or more page views a day), and 200 comments. Not many blogs who are just a few weeks old get that much traffic - unless they hook up to link parties.

Perfectly Prim Link Party #5
Hello, and welcome to another Prairie Patch Perfectly Prim Link Party!
Please remember the link parties here are for prim or old fashioned items only, or those made to look that way. They can be something you made or not.
Additionally, due to getting very busy in marketing several blogs, I won't have time to email you if you didn't follow the guidelines. It may sound mean, but I'll delete your entry. This is to ensure fairness to those who are following the instructions. Please try again, but re-read the directions.
If you don't know how to post the url to your specific blog post, go to that specific blog post and click on the title. You'll note that as you're doing so, the url (i.e., website address) will change in the address bar - making it longer because it's added the title and/or date. This is what you'll be linking up, NOT your blog address/url.
If you want to feature items you have for sale, then head on over to the Sunburnt Cow, where the link party starts on Wednesdays through Sundays, and you can link up blog posts revolving around items you have for sale. :)
The Perfectly Prim Link Party goes from Sunday mornings until Wednesday.
Instructions:
1. Go to the post on your blog that you want to link up.
2. Click on the title, and that will give you the url address to that particular post up in the website address bar.
3. Copy that.
4. Click on the "Add your link" button that's on this link party. Up will pop three boxes, one for adding your url to that particular blog post, (which I just explained how to find it and copy it), what you want the title of the entry to be, and your email address. Paste your post url in the box, then type in the name of your link party item(s) and your email addy.
5. Click on "next step," which will bring you to another page that pulls up all the photos associated with that blog post. Select the one you want to represent the thumbnail in this link party, and there you have it!

My Features
I'm really happy about all the features I've received for my woodless burlap frames over at All Thumbs Crafts.
My faux stained glass was in the top ten links over at All Things Domestic link party.
Just put up an artsy fartsy piece, too - cardboard wall art. I really had a lot of fun doing it.
Terry from Cherished Treasures saw my tutorial on ragged fabric flowers and incorporated it onto a hang tag. It turned out beautifully! She emailed and said she's using the flowers in a new banner she's putting up soon. I'm so glad that a tutorial I made inspired someone to try it and put their own spin on it!
We didn't get too hard hit with the blizzard that blew through here a couple days ago. Probably got about eight inches of snow. It's hard to tell since everything drifts so much here due to the high winds. Let's hope most of it will melt within the next few days.
Just eight more days until the firstUdderly Amazing New Shop contest over at the Sunburnt Cow. Everyone who enters will also get some publicity in that I'd love for everyone who participates to send me a little bio so I can do a blog post about each of them!

Sunburnt Cow's Udderly Amazing New Shop Contest!
You're cordially invited to a really BIG event!
What: The inaugural Udderly Amazing New Shop Contest at the Sunburnt Cow
When: Beginning April 1st
Who: You!! If you have an online shop that's six months and under, you can enter to win this Udderly Amazing New Shop Contest. If your shop is over six months, come cheer the contestants on. Plus, we need YOU to help choose who will win!
How: Based on your voting, some contestants will move on to the next round. Our judges will then determine who will be that month's Udderly Amazing New Shop winner!
Once the contest goes into the judging phase, the criteria will be based on a point system involving marketability; technical (clear pictures, etc.); craftsmanship; inventory; variety; and bonus points.
The winner will receive some awesome exposure on all the participating judges' blogs, as well as being regularly featured on the Sunburnt Cow for at least four months. Additionally, if the winner has a button banner, that banner will remain on the Sunburnt Cow's sidebar for six months.
Along with yours truly, the following amazing artisans will be our first contest's judges:
Deb from Paxton Valley Folk Art Shop,
Teresa from Teresa's Prim Treasures,
Wendy from Ravenwood Whimzies, and
Brenda from The Rusty Thimble.
So come join the fun! And if you have a shop older than six months, please spread the word to those who are new online. Plus, as I mentioned above, we need you to help us choose who will be serious contenders for the final rounds!

Swap Goodies and Guest Blog Post
I received some lovely swap goodies from my partner Lora over at Art Wrinkles. Since she knew I was just getting in to scrapbooking (which she does as well), she sent some great embellishments that I can use in my future projects. That's so cool and thoughtful!
Thanks, Lora!
I also did my very first guest blog post over at Wildflowers and Whimsy. I'm very excited about it, though...cringe...I didn't proofread it closely enough. Goes to show I should sleep on it first before proofing and sending it off.

Oh my!
I just saw I'm on page one for the search term "burlap crafts." Whoa. :0
I have no idea how that happened because google doesn't even have All Thumbs Crafts indexed yet...well...at least according to the page rank site. But wow, I just saw it now. Holy cow! And...not to be a broken record here, but it's all link parties!
Ahhhh, I just checked and I'm on page one for "paper mache easter eggs" and "fabric wreath crafts"! I don't understand this. There must be some mistake. Although maybe it's for the search term today? I dunno. Weird...just totally twilight zone moment right now. Not sure how long it'll last since google changes things constantly, but WoW!

Por favor...
Well, hey...I was just informed you could ask your blog readers to vote for your project, so I'll do that. :)
I entered my faux stained glass votive
in the Patches of Pink link party that offers voting. Since so many people have given me positive feedback on this project on my All Thumbs Crafts Blog, I thought I'd let you know of the voting.
Thanks!
Oh, and if you haven't read about my good news in the post directly below, please do so! I'm still over the moon!!

New Computer!
Woot, just got the new computer today. OMG, it's so wonderful! I forgot what it was like to be on a real computer!! So fast...so ZIPPY!! This is so awesome!! And the screen. Whoa...I have MARGINS! Now I see what the edges of my blog. Wow, so cool.
Wheeeeeeeeeeee....now I can do things literally 10 times faster - at least. No more taking 10 minutes just to "follow" someone on a blog or to comment. Wowzers, I'm so excited now.
My son set it up for me. I had to go take a shower, cuz I knew I'd be hovering around making him nervous. But zip...it set right up. Yay!
Now I can do 10 times the marketing - lol! This is so awesome. (Can ya tell I'm excited!?!) Oh, I forgot what it was like to be on a laptop and a computer that actually went zippy fast! Wow...no freezing when I'm typing this blog post either. I'm sooooo impressed!
Anyway, link parties, baby! Seriously, that's my top marketing tip. Just look over at my All Thumbs Crafts blog. I set up this cute little counter thingie that lets you know how many unique hits you get. (Unique hits are new people discovering your blog). I put it up on March 19th, and I have 486 unique hits. Now obviously those are from people who were checking out the blog before I put the counter up, but many of them are consistently new people. All due to link parties, baby! And page views? Over 3870, and that's one of my newest blogs. Don't know why the lack of "linky love" on my parties. Hopefully y'all will start realizing how important these lil free advertising show cases are.
Edited to add: Oh my gosh, even captcha is fun! (I think that's what they call the little word verifications after you fill in a comment). Whoot...not dreaded anymore, wondering if it's going to freeze up my computer for seven minutes!!
Another edit: In just an hour or so of writing this, I've rec'd 60 or so more page views on the All Thumbs Blog. Also, the Sunburnt Cow, which is older than the All Thumbs, has 1,000 LESS page views. That's the power of link parties!

Prim Link Party #4
Hello, and welcome to another Prairie Patch Perfectly Prim Link Party!
Unfortunately, I had to delete a few links last week due to the guidelines not being followed. Please make sure you're following them.
Also please note a couple additional rules - no items for sale and also giving me permission to feature you in an upcoming post. If you want to feature items you have for sale, then head on over to the Sunburnt Cow, where the link party starts on Wednesdays through Sundays, and you can link up blog posts revolving around items you have for sale. :)
The Perfectly Prim Link Party goes from Sunday mornings until Wednesday nights.

Giveaway Winners
Well, it's now officially the first day of spring. It's just after midnight here. We have an orange sky, and we had the weirdest snow all day Saturday. It looked like shredded tissue. Very weird. Hard and heavy like ice, but yet it wasn't ice. It certainly was pretty as it clung to the trees and bushes - all "frosted" with thick coats of white shards. Then later in the day, when the winds blew, all those shards shook off the trees and bushes and made for some very interesting clumps on the snow.
Anyway, since it's now the first day of spring, the giveaway is now over. I have to admit some disappointment in the turn out. Maybe it was just too complicated? But yet I think people would still sign up hoping to get lucky. Not enough time? No, not that since people join giveaways all the time. Is it the prizes? Well, yes and no. No in that many of these kinds of things are offered. Yes, in that it's probably a general consensus as to my lack of talent when it comes to prim items. I started feeling very insecure about it because of one forum in particular. I still post there since there are a lot of nice people are there, but...still...
So, since I'm not feeling all that comfortable in making things for this blog, I probably won't be having any more giveaways any time soon. Just my own stuff I have to deal with, and I truly appreciate the supportive comments and compliments from those of you who like my things. Words can't express how really touched I am by them. I know that many of you appreciate what I do and what I make, so I'm not writing about you here. :) It's just that actions speak louder than words, and the lack of enthusiasm over this giveaway is hard to ignore.
This giveaway was also designed to give you those all important one way links on the blogs I referenced in the original giveaway post, and the importance of which was referenced in my marketing and SEO articles. You'd be winning a little something there every time you gave me a link to a tutorial or craft supplies resource, so I'm not sure why not many people wanted to take advantage of that. Most bloggers would be all over that like white on rice - any chance to market and get their blogs more exposure is sought after. I don't mean to sound angry, I'm just not understanding what went wrong. So I'm discontinuing my marketing and SEO series since it generally seems to be a waste of time. The link party here seems to have generated very little interest, but I'll continue it for a little while and see how it goes.
Anyway, since this giveaway was designed to show who the first and second place winners were at any given moment, with a random lucky winner, I had to change that because there's a three way tie as to the usable "leads" I received: Deb, Trish, and Lori.
So, in order to choose the winner amongst the three who are tied, I dropped numbers one through three into a box, and here's what came up.
First place goes to Lori of Make Prim Happen.
Second place goes to Trish of Me 2 U Primitives.
Third place goes to Deb of Paxton Valley Folk Art Shop
Congratulations, ladies! I really appreciate your entering and giving me some leads. :) If y'all could email me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Very Touched
I have to admit to being very touched over the responses I've received regarding my writing prompt from Mama Kat's. I expected a hailstorm of judgment, but instead, I received lots of empathy. I'm still trying to process it all.

Sunburnt Cow Link Party
I'm hosting a link party on one of my other blogs where you can post up to four items that you have for sale. These items would have to be in a blog post - as is usual for a link party. Please come and join the fun - showing off what you currently have for sale and looking at other pretties! It doesn't have to be decor or prim related - just anything handmade that you have for sale. :)
Join the fun here!

What My Thumbs Have Been Up To
So what have my thumbs been up to over at All Thumbs Crafts? I've made a braided yarn wreath I think turned out very pretty. I know it's not prim related, but I thought I'd share it anyway.
Also got my paper mache Easter eggs featured in another link party!
I broke down and bought a computer about an hour ago. I've spent some very frustrating days of late with my old computer. Now it's making all kinds of noises. Hopefully it can keep on going til I get the new one in the mail. I wanted to hold off for a little while more, but I couldn't. It literally took 27 minutes to link up to a link party earlier today. I figure what would take me only an hour on a regular computer takes me about ten hours on this one, so it's illogical to keep using this ol' thing. I have way too much to do now trying to market my various blogs to sit on the edge of my seat, with my eyeballs bleeding, looking at a frozen screen - lol! (Yes, I'm still frustrated). Plus, I may regain the full use of my arm if I have a laptop, because I won't have to use a mouse, which gives me excruciating pain to my shoulder.
Also got asked to do a series of ebooks on Amazon with clients I've worked with for years now. I'll see if they're going to pay me via a cut of the sales, or if it's just a flat fee. If it's just a flat fee, I wouldn't be interested, and I'll go figure out how to do it myself...though I'd have to find a way to market the books, and they have a big market base.

Perfectly Prim Link Party #3
Hello, and welcome to another Prairie Patch Perfectly Prim Link Party!
Unfortunately, I had to delete a few links last week due to the guidelines not being followed. Please make sure you're following them. If there will be a particular theme for the week, I will bold the sentence. Please remember the link parties here are for prim or old fashioned items only, or those made to look that way.
Also please note a couple additional rules - no items for sale and also giving me permission to feature you in an upcoming post. I'll be having a weekly link party - starting this Wednesday - on the Sunburnt Cow for items you wish to feature that you have for sale.

Freaky Friday
Well, today started out dripping wet. We were above freezing and it was raining a bit. Then it started to turn to sleet, and now we're in a full blown blizzard. My shoveled out sidewalk is no more, as probably four to five feet of snow has drifted across it.
But at least this side of the earth isn't having the weather/earth problems as Japan is. This is a very sad day, and my heart goes out to them and wow...all those continuing aftershocks that are quite large in an of themselves.
On a brighter note, I did get a wonderful goodie in the mail. I won one of Rusty Thimble's wonderful giveaways.
Oh my gosh, they're so much cuter in person. The camera doesn't do Brenda's talent justice!
In other news, I'll be starting up a regular monthly contest over at the Sunburnt Cow for new online artisans. Please check out the post, and if you'd like to be a judge, please email me. Also, if you want to be one of the contestants, stay tuned to the Sunburnt Cow blog.
Additionally on the Sunburnt Cow, I'll be starting up link parties, which will occur every Wednesday. In this link party, you'll be able to link up blog posts mentioning items you have for sale. This is unlike most link parties in which you can't hook up anything for sale.
Over on my All Thumbs Crafts blog, I posted a tutorial on how to make burlap frames without the use of wood. As many of you might notice, these "frames" are also in my giveaway.

Ten on Tuesdays!
Last week, I mentioned the ten things I miss most about LOST. This week it's Ten Things that Annoyed Me Most About Lost.
1. Kate Austin
2. Jack and his crying all the time - no matter what the occasion. I liked him most of the first season though. (Sorry, Kim!!) :)
3. Killing off Boone. I felt he could've developed into quite a character. He was becoming the "apprentice" of Locke, and with the rising tension between Jack and Locke, it would've made for some interesting dynamics (i.e., Boone inserting himself into the tension and sticking up for Locke).
4. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindeloff. I think they started believing their own press too much. I also didn't care for Cuse's disparaging remarks about certain fans. I remember him on a video making fun of a woman because of her size.
5. That fugitive named Kate.
6. Juliette's smirk. I do like Elizabeth Mitchell as an actress but she smirks too much. Her trademark smirk also makes quite a prominent appearance on V now.
7. The casting of Jacob. Huh? Seriously!?! Soooo wrong in every way.
8. Some unanswered key plot questions like why couldn't the women carry babies to full term on the island?
9. Half the last season they could've done without and instead answered all the key plot questions. I mean really...Dogan and his John Lennon sidekick? Why waste hours on that?
10. That Austin chick.

Perfectly Prim Link Party #2
This week's link party theme is showing off your old fashioned, prim kitchen implements - be it(they) butter churns, butter paddles, potato mashers, firkins, sugar cones, etc. I also hope to be taking some of these lovely pictures and writing an article about them and their uses. If I use your photo(s), you'll be getting the credit. This will, of course, mean exposure to your blog or website.
Participating in this link party (or any of my link parties) doesn't mean you have to get the exposure, though. For whatever reasons, you may not want it, so please don't feel that if you link up, you'll be getting unwanted attention. I will have to get written permission from you in an email in order for me to use your photo(s) for my article, so if you don't want to be in the article, you don't have to. :)
Additionally, due to getting very busy in marketing several blogs, I won't have time to email you if you didn't follow the guidelines. It may sound mean, but I'll delete your entry. This is to ensure fairness to those who are following the instructions. Please try again, but re-read the directions.

Marketing Tips: Blog Swapping, Contests, and Link Parties
I recently ran across the concept of blog swapping throughout my various surfing around on link parties. Blog swapping is a lot like guest blogging, but it's reciprocal. (Guest blogging is where you have someone come in a do a guest post for you. This is usually done by bloggers who have a large audience and write a few posts a week).
Blog swapping is reciprocal in that you and the person you "swap" with will both write a post for each other's blog. It's a great way of being introduced to new readers since you're posting on another person's blog and they may have an entirely different readership than you. These new (to you) readers may even follow you!
These guest posts can be about whatever you want - highlights of your blog (including links), a little bit about yourself, how you know the owner of the blog, etc. If anyone would like to do some blog swapping with me, please email me. (Email addy is in my profile).
Additionally, I'll soon be holding contests on the Sunburnt Cow and Handmade Teddies and Raggedies blogs. I hope these will be regular occurrences, but it depends upon how many participate. What I envision is kind of like a discover a new artisan type of contest wherein those who have only been selling online for three months or less will get some publicity. I'll be writing more details about that soon, but suffice it to say that if you're new to selling online, stay tuned! Also, if you'd like to be a judge, please let me know by dropping me an email. (You'll get publicity by being a judge).
I'll be having another link party starting Sunday, as I wrote about in my previous post, so mark your calendars. :) One of my blogging friends received ten new followers due to the first link party here. Yay!
Lastly, I'll be starting up link parties on the aforementioned Sunburnt Cow and Handmade Teddies and Raggedies as well so that you can link up your handmades that you're trying to sell. Remember, the link party here isn't for items that you're selling.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Sunday's Link Party Theme

Interviews
I've been posting some interviews recently on my blogs and over at another site. I rewrote the "Living History" blog post (a couple posts down from here on this blog) for Suzanne's Farm Bell blog so as to emphasize the kitchen more. This interview is located at Living History in the Kitchen. I'm so happy she published it.
I also have interviews of various artisans on my Sunburnt Cow and Handmade Teddies and Raggedies' blog:
Deb of Paxton Valley;
Diane MacNaughtan of Dianie Mac Designs;
Cathy of TolenTreasures; and
Kelly of Blond Heart.
If you haven't read the interviews of these fascinating women, please do so. I'll be adding more interviews in the near future.

Ten on Tuesdays
It's Tuesday again already, and you know what that means? Ten on Tuesdays.
Ten Things I Miss About Lost
1. Hurley and how sweet he was.
2. The comebacks of Sawyer and Ben.
3. The mad skills of Rousseau.
4. The super mad skills of the "torturah" Sayid.
5. The six degrees of separation that everyone seemed to have. (As an aside, I like making my own six degrees of separation of these actors. For instance, the pilot (in the pilot - lol) also starred Greg Grunberg on Heroes as Matt. Locke's mother also starred on Heroes as a friend of the Petrellis. So it kind of comes full circle there. Then there's Terry O'Quinn who starred on Earth 2 with Clancy Brown, who was the guy (can't recall his name) who blew his brains out in the hatch when Desmond was living down there. Terry O'Quinn also starred in Millennium, which had a guest star named James Marsters, who guest starred in Torchwood with John Barrowman. Barrowman starred on Dr. Who with Christopher Eccleston (one of my fave actors). Eccleston was on Heroes which, as I mentioned, had plenty of stars who also guest starred on Lost. Now wasn't that was fun - lol)!
6. The blog Never Seen Lost.
7. Ack Attack
8. Guessing what the mysteries and theories were and all the mental gymnastics you had to do to wrap your head around some of this time travel and "what if" stuff.
9. Locke. I really liked him, especially in the beginning.
10. Christian Shepherd. He was pretty cool.
